Hi! I'm Emily, a writer, author, and design lover. I'm also a mother, and like many of you, I want to teach my children to be mindful, responsible global citizens. I also like pretty things, but I also want to know where those things came from. Who made them. What sort of impact they have on the world, the environment, and people. This blog is an exploration of where to find great things, and also how we can all make our lives a little more sustainable without sacrificing style. You can also find me on Twitter and Pinterest. Please come say hi, I love meeting new people.
I am a former marketing pro (Martha Stewart, Donna Karan, Conde Nast, Victoria's Secret) turned freelance writer, editor, interior design and weddings expert, consumer advocate, champion of sustainability, author of three books, and mother to three kids. I spent 10+ years working in fashion and publishing before leaving to have kids, write a few books, and start this blog. My books are: Eco Chic Weddings (Hatherleign Press, 2007), When Changing A Lightbulb Isn't Enough (Hearst Books/Popular Mechanics 2008), Eco Chic Home (Skipstone Books 2011). I am a 500 hrs Certified Yoga Instructor, I studied Interior Design at Parson's School of Design, and am a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder (BA English Lit). I live on the Main Line of Philadelphia with my husband and three kids.
I focus on "stylish living with good intentions."
My writing and design work has appeared in Martha Stewart Weddings, Better Homes and Gardens, Town and Country, New York Magazine, The New York Times and more. I've made appearances on CBS The Early Show, The Today Show, Martha Stewart Radio, and NPR.
